South Ukrainian NPP informs about the intention to carry out the planned activity and assess its impact on the environment
The planned activity consists in the completion of the construction of the Tashlyk HPSPP in the area of the location of the South Ukrainian NPP as part of hydroelectric units 3-6 with an increase in the level of the Oleksandrivsky reservoir on the river Southern Bug by 0.9 m from the existing mark of 16.0 m to the mark of 16.9 m.
The construction project provides for a phased increase in the level in the Oleksandrivsky reservoir with the creation of a water reservoir for the water supply of the Mykolayiv region, as well as an increase in costs during the low-water period, ensuring sanitary release in dry years. The issue is relevant for the accumulation of additional volumes of water in connection with the destruction of the Kakhovska hydroelectric power station and the emergence of a shortage of water resources in the Mykolayiv region.
The HPSPP is designed to cover peak loads, fill night gaps, provide emergency and frequency reserves in the southwestern part of the United Energy System (UES) of Ukraine, where there is a significant uneven daily load schedule and an acute need for peak and high-speed emergency capacities, as well as to ensure the base mode of the South-Ukrainian NPP and the creation of an emergency reserve for a nuclear power plant (providing electricity to the UES in case of emergency).
