Two years since the beginning of the occupation ZNPP

Since March 4, 2022, the russians have illegally occupied and held the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. And for two long years now, russian occupiers, criminals, have been creating extraordinary and unprecedented threats to nuclear and radiation safety not only for Ukraine, but for the whole world.

Thoughtlessly shelling the Zaporizhzhia NPP site, damaging equipment and buildings, mocking the Ukrainian plant personnel, who, despite moral pressure and often-physical torture, continued to ensure the functioning of the largest nuclear power plant in Europe. All this time the russians cynically deny violations, the fundamentals of safe operation of the nuclear power plant and their terrorist activities against the whole world.

Since the beginning of the russian occupation, due to constant russian shelling, eight complete blackouts and one partial blackout have already occurred at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, with the launch of emergency diesel generators and security systems, which is absolutely unacceptable. The Zaporizhzhia NPP also houses a large amount of russian military equipment and troops, and the NPP has actually been turned into a military base.

By their actions, the russians turned the safest nuclear power plant in Europe into the most dangerous in the world. Moreover, the russian occupation of the NPP is the only reason for the existence of such a danger. The occupation will disappear and this danger will disappear.

That is why on this day the Ukrainian Nuclear Society once again calls on the entire civilized world to take concrete steps and actions to return the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant under the full control of the legal operator and Ukraine and ensure its safety!
