The Ukrainian Nuclear Society joined the creation of Ukraine’s first virtual academy of environmental education — “EcoEducation”
On October 7, Kyiv hosted the presentation of an innovative educational platform — “EcoEducation”, aimed at training specialists capable of implementing the principles of sustainable development and environmental responsibility across various sectors of the economy, particularly in the energy field.
The project was developed by the Professional Association of Environmentalists of the World (PAEW) in partnership with NNEGC “Energoatom”, the Ukrainian Nuclear Society, and the Office of Sustainable Solutions.
The virtual academy will become a practical tool for teachers, students, and business representatives, providing access to modern knowledge, interactive courses, and real-world case studies from leading companies in the fields of energy and environmental protection.
The event brought together representatives of government institutions, academia, environmental organizations, and energy enterprises. One of the key discussion topics was the role of nuclear energy in ensuring an environmentally safe future and achieving Ukraine’s climate goals.
Danylo Lavrenov, First Vice President of the Ukrainian Nuclear Society and Head of the President’s Office of NNEGC “Energoatom”, emphasized that the development of environmental education is an essential prerequisite for a responsible approach to the use of nuclear technologies.
💬 “The nuclear industry remains a strategic foundation of Ukraine’s energy independence even in the most challenging times. The successful development of the sector in the coming decades depends on the combination of advanced technologies and environmental responsibility. And the extent to which future environmental specialists understand the benefits and challenges of nuclear energy will largely determine public trust and support for the introduction of these advanced technologies without harm to the environment,” said Danylo Lavrenov.
Ludmyla Tsyhanok, President of PAEW, highlighted that the “EcoEducation” platform represents a turning point in modernizing environmental education in Ukraine:
💬 “In the future, this will be a one-click platform where every student looking for an internship will be able to find one and contact a potential employer. We plan to work on this. Such accessible, open, and modern solutions are the future of sustainable development and green recovery,” said Ludmyla Tsyhanok.
The presentation of the “EcoEducation” platform became an important step toward integrating environmental and energy education. The Ukrainian Nuclear Society will continue to support educational initiatives that cultivate scientific thinking, environmental awareness, and an understanding of the role of nuclear energy in Ukraine’s sustainable development.
