Summer Nuclear School 2025: Educational Partnership in Action
From July 1 to 11, 2025, the IX Summer Nuclear School took place at the Rivne Nuclear Power Plant – a traditional educational project of SE “NNEGC Energoatom” that brings together students, lecturers, and nuclear energy professionals. The Ukrainian Nuclear Society acted as a co-organizer of the event and actively contributed to both the educational and communication components of the program.
This year’s School welcomed over 50 students and lecturers from 10 Ukrainian higher education institutions that train specialists for the nuclear industry. Among them were:
- National University of Water and Environmental Engineering
- Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute
- Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv
- Odesa National Polytechnic University
- Lviv Polytechnic National University
- Vinnytsia National Technical University (VNTU)
- National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute”
- Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics (KNURE)
- Educational and Scientific Institute “Prydniprovska State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture” of the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technology
- Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture (KNUCA)
The participants had the opportunity to visit key facilities of RNPP, attend thematic lectures, complete a tactical medicine course, present their own scientific research, and interact with leading specialists of the enterprise and representatives of nuclear-related organizations.
The lecture part of the program was delivered by prominent lecturers and department heads of profile universities — members of the Ukrainian Nuclear Society — as well as specialists from Rivne NPP and other Energoatom divisions. Among them were:
Prof. Mykhailo Semerak, Head of the TTAES Department, Lviv Polytechnic National University
Prof. Oleksandr Rubanenko, Department of Power Plants and Systems, Vinnytsia National Technical University
Oleksandr Adamovych, Head of the Human Resources Department of RNPP
and others.
Representatives of the Ukrainian Nuclear Society also joined the program as speakers in other School activities:
Danylo Lavrenov, First Vice President – Executive Secretary of the Ukrainian Nuclear Society, presented the work and activities of the largest civil organization in Ukraine’s nuclear sector.
Ivan Chepurenko, Co-chair of the Scientific and Analytical Section, introduced the Society’s projects, initiatives, and research activities.
Oleksandr Fedinchyk and Serhii Hutsalo, Deputy Head and Head of the Rivne Regional Branch of the Society, respectively, spoke about its local initiatives.
In addition to the educational content, participants also took part in a cultural and educational program — including an excursion to the historic city of Lutsk, organized with the support of the Ukrainian Nuclear Society.
Conducting such educational initiatives is a powerful tool for career guidance, shaping a new generation of professionals for Ukraine’s nuclear sector, and an example of effective cooperation between industry, educational institutions, and civil society.
