A meeting of the Scientific and Analytical Section of the Ukrainian Nuclear Society
On December 2, 2024, a meeting of the Scientific and Analytical Section of the Ukrainian Nuclear Society took place.
Under the chairmanship of Dr. Konstantin Simeiko, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Senior Researcher, Acting Academic Secretary, and Head of Laboratory at the Institute for Nuclear Power Plant Safety Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the participants discussed pressing issues in nuclear energy development, prospects for international scientific cooperation in the field, and matters of radiation monitoring and security of ionizing radiation sources in Ukraine, particularly in the context of russian military aggression.
The event was attended by members of the Society’s Scientific and Analytical Section, including experts from leading enterprises and research organizations in the nuclear sector, such as:
Institute for Nuclear Power Plant Safety Problems of the NAS of Ukraine, National Science Center “Kharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology”, JSE NNEGC “Energoatom”, Institute for Nuclear Research of the NAS of Ukraine, SSE Chornobyl NPP, State Scientific and Technical Center for Nuclear and Radiation Safety, National Academy of Internal Affairs, Vinnytsia National Technical University, Holtec, Sumy State University.
Maxym Savelyev, Ph.D., Senior Researcher at the Institute for Nuclear Power Plant Safety Problems, presented a report on international scientific cooperation in nuclear energy.
Dmytro Stelmakh, Head of Strategic Planning at SSE Chornobyl NPP, proposed the potential creation of a research and heat-generating reactor utilizing spent nuclear fuel in Slavutych, Kyiv Region.
Sofiya Mekh, a cadet at the National Academy of Internal Affairs, delivered a presentation on “Innovative Technologies in Radiation Monitoring: Prospects for Implementation in Police Operations in Ukraine.”
The participants exchanged information on their activities and discussed upcoming measures and events planned by the Society’s Scientific and Analytical Section in the near future.
